WHICH WAY?

The comments I have been receiving on this series have been very encouraging and very uplifting. Just think if we all decided to take a stand and speak. For some of us it is very hard to even imagine doing it. We think about all of the things we could loose like, friends, money, business associates, golfing buddies and the list could go on and on. Many think it is private or unprofessional. But sadly we don't think about the miss opportunities.

Which Way - Part-2

Thunder   vs   Faith

Lots of people search for the meaning or purpose of life.  But, I have known since I was 17 that it is to glorify God through worshipping Him.

Lots of people search for their specific purpose for being alive. Why were they created, what are they to do with their life? Which Way do they go? This question is more focused, more specific and for me it was much more difficult to find the answer.

In 2003 a friend of mine gave me a book titled "The Purpose Drive Life", written by Rick Warner. Fantastic book! I gave a ton of them a way. What I discovered in reading it was that I was created to HELP OTHERS. Pretty simple. I have a heart for helping. Helping the hurting, the underdog, the less fortunate, the dreamer, the young up and comer and other leaders. As soon as I meet someone that needs help I immediately start helping. It is as though I can not stop myself. It is part of my nature. Even on the golf course where I truly am not that good of a golfer, (handicap of 12) I see someone coming over the top, moving forward, lining up right, whatever, I have to say something. Most of the time they are kicking my butt, but I still have to say, "I think your lining up too far to the right". I just have to help.

Ever since I became a Christian I have tried to live the life. For years, I have tried to help others. But, I was failing to reach my full potential. About 2 years ago my friend, Ray Sanders came to me with an idea he had to "ruin CEO's". He wanted to take them overseas and let them experience life in a totally different way. His hope was that the experience would awaken them and they would use their position of leadership as a platform for the Lord. I helped him develop his idea which is now called GiANT Experiences www.giantexperiences.org. I was his first "Ginny pig" and guess what? It worked! I got energized to start helping in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, India, Uganda and Columbia. I am mentoring a group of young businessmen and women in Uganda and the Dominican Republic. (More about this in another blog). BUT, this idea of HELPING OTHERS has taken on more meaning over the past two years. As I wrote in Part-1 of this series I had to decided Which Way to go. Continue to HELP OTHERS in a non-public, almost behind the scenes way as I had been doing or use my position of influence to encourage others to get active.

Which Way do I go?

I sought help from friends like Kent Humphrys, Paul Foster, Tim and Denise Mills, Jim Vineyard, Derek Watson, Ray Sanders and of course Raynell. I prayed about it a ton.

Today, I am writing a daily blog that is being read in about 50 countries around the world. I am trying to HELP OTHERS thru these blogs. Trying to help leaders to speak up and speak out about their faith. So many great men and women that should be speaking up but, like I use to be, most will talk more about the Thunder victory last night than they will talk about their faith today.

Which Way? Part-1

I love this picture. My friend Ray Sanders, sent it to me the other day. He saw it one morning on a prayer walk. For me, it speaks volumes. Do you go left or right? Does it make a difference? Which Way would you pick? Which Way would your buddy tell you to go? Which Way would your spouse say to go? Which Way does your heart say to go? Which Way would the Lord lead you?

For years I have faced this decision. Only until recently did I figure out the truth for my life. The truth for me is that for years I wasted my life, wasted my position, wasted my money, wasted my influence. Only until recently have I yielded to God and begun to fulfill his true mission of my life. Some say, "you had a revival." Some say, "you have a new life." Some say far more despairing things.

The truth is not found in what "they" say. The truth is found in the fact I decided Which Way to go. My blog is simply the voice of my heart. It allows me to share my faith, my doubts, my triumphs and my defeats with the people that want to read it. It allows me to spread my influence for God, to be a voice for Him. It allows me to share my heart, to help my friends, to serve, to love, to help.

As most of you know only too well, I am no saint. I have let God down so many times I fear I could start counting my sins today and never finish before I die. But, HE never has let me down. Nothing compares to His forgiveness.

So, for me to finally be a voice for Him, to encourage others to be a voice for Him, to live for Him is proper and natural and overdue. I figured out Which Way to go. My hope is to help you figure out Which Way too.
